Shopping in Italy is unlike anywhere else in the world. In addition to Florence and Rome’s reputation as the cradle of fashion and style, Milan is also universally acknowledged as the fashion capital of the world. Also, there are always souvenirs to buy.
As a result, it’s not surprising that the country offers various types of markets, designer outlets, antique shops, shopping centers, and high-end boutiques to tourists. You just need to know where to look.

Shopping in Italy: Where to Look
Whether you’re window shopping or trying to buy the trendiest wears, the places outlined below offers the ultimate shopping experience.
Assisi

One of the most visited hill towns in central Italy, Assisi is a perfect spot to purchase souvenirs and affordable decorations. With various stores near Saint Francis Basilica, you won’t have to look too far to find what you want.
Besides, the town is also a hot spot for gift items including arts, fashion, food, and wine, as well as kid’s clothes.
Florence

Are you interested in luxurious fashion items such as jewelry, perfume, and shoes? Then consider shopping in Florence. Whether its luxury shopping or window shopping, the street of Via Tornabuoni and Via della Vigna Nuova offers everything you need.
However, to buy affordable souvenirs and items of clothing, you may have to visit the smaller specialty stores across the Arno.
Rome

This city offers a wide variety of shopping opportunities. From the flea markets to the designer fashion house, Rome has everything you could possibly desire.
For upscale shopping, check out Via Condotti and the Spanish Steps. Aside from the high-end boutique in this area, you’ll also find fabulous restaurants and diners.

Venice

Venice is one of the favorite cities for tourists in Italy. As a result, it’s easy to get many affordable mass-produced souvenirs. That’s not all; the city also has some boutiques and historic shops to purchase glass and handmade masks.
Naples

The first thing that comes to mind when you think about shopping in Naples is the nativity workshops. The Italian City is known for producing figurines as well as other items that are based on Italian scenes. So, even if you don’t intend to buy, Naples is always perfect for window shopping.
Consider visiting the historic center near Via San Gregorio Armeno to buy the nativity figurines. However, if you’re interested the purchasing clothing items too, the new street of Via Toledo will do just fine.
When and How to Shop in Italy
To get the best prices in many of the stores and shops, you’ll need strong bargaining skills. So, practice ahead of time and make your purchases during the low season. What do I mean, you wonder?
Search for summer items (articles of clothing and shoes) from the end of August till mid-September. Winter collections, on the other hand, are best during December and January.
Remember, when you negotiate well, the sellers are likely to bring their prices down. So, come prepared and have an awesome experience.
